Rhodes is situated in the south east part of Greece, lying only 30 miles of the coast
of Turkey, called the island of sun because of its 320 days of sunshine a
year, Rhodes is an ideal location for your holiday.
The Island has around 90.000 inhabitants of which 50.000 live in the main
city, Rhodes town.
As well as having some of the best beaches in the Aegean, Rhodes is very
mountainous, great if you love exploring and mountain biking. The town has great
shopping, restaurants and nightlife, people from all over the world pay the
island a visit during the summer, so it has a truly international feel,
visitors can find Marks & Spencers, BHS, McDonalds, Pizza hut and of course
all the great clothing brands from Versace to Billabong.
So Rhodes really has something for everyone! Leaving the city, moving down
the east coast, you'll find the resorts of Kalithea, Faliraki and Lindos. Lindos
is a traditional Greek village with sugar cubed houses, a 3000 year old Acropolis
and donkeys to take to up the 300 steps to see it and of course the spectacular
view.
There are wonderful Tavernas serving Greek meze (small plates of everything
imaginable), ouzo and the best fresh fish you'll find anywhere and we highly
recommend that you try the local wines.
All in all Rhodes is a great destination for the demanding spirit, whether
you are wind surfing or not, you'll never be bored on holiday here!
